‘Tears in Heaven’ has a sad backstory having been written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings as a tribute to Clapton’s four-year-old son Conor. It appeared in the 1991 film Rush and went on to become Clapton’s best-selling single in the US, and reaching No.5 on the UK Single Chart.
This charming arrangement re-conceptualises Clapton guitar parts for piano and shares the melody between the different voice parts against a bed of lush choral harmonies.
