Revêrie for Flute & Orchestra

Revêrie for Flute & Orchestra (2005)‘Revêrie’ was written for Laura Hay for passing her Grade IV flute. The piece is in ternary form and romantic in style with a dreamy atmosphere in accordance with the title. The flute part is easily of Grade VI standard and the piano part requires a more advanced technique. Revêrie was premiered at the Voices Anon Christmas Concert (8/12/05), following it with a second performance in the school Christmas concert (12/12/05). The recording above (taken from my computer) has just been fixed (11/8/06) with the glitch that was towards the end removed.

It was always planned that Revêrie would become part of a flute sonata and the first movement was completed in July 09. The full sonata will consist of 5 movements with Revêrie featuring as the third. For more details on the sontata, click here.

The orchestration was carried out and completed on the 2/5/06. It is orchestrated for 2222+4221 tpn cmb hrp stn.
