Impromptu for Cello & Piano

Written Especially for Vicky Adams

Impromptu was written for Vicky Adams' 21st birthday and was completed on May 25th 2002. It was conceived with a dance-like form in mind consisting of a slow prelude section followed by a dance based on the main theme. The end result was a ternary form piece in a romantic style which employs simple harmonies in the 'A' section and harmonic spice and rhythmic complexities in the faster 'B' section. The main theme resembles the theme from the Schumann piano concerto but no symbolic link should be made.

Selected Performances:
-(12/02/05) Slough, UK. First performance by Andrew Adams (Cello), Henry Macey (Piano & Organ) at St Mary's Church lunchtime concert series.
