Romantic
Miniatures for Piano |
A Little Nocturne
This piece is designed as a miniature pastiche of Chopin and is idea as a study for any piano student of around Grade V. The key is quite difficult but can easily be transposed down a ST into A minor for those less able (I can provide a transposed version on request).. The piece will also serve as a demonstration of the use of a Neapolitan 6th (b10) and a German 6th (b33) which both occur once. The
piece was written (21/7/01) especially for Lisa Rubben, a French exchange
friend of my sister-in-law.
It was composed in a very short space of time (roughly 45 mins) hence
it's lack of development and brevity. The piece has now been complied with a group of small pieces under the title Romantic Miniatures for Piano. The set of pieces consists of my more interesting early compositions and any romantic miniatures that I have written up to the present day. I am often called to write such pieces so the set is liable to grow in the future. If you would like to view the score, please click here.
