Humoresque: Dvorák (1841-1904) Arranged for Flute and Piano

The best known of all the pieces Dvorák wrote for the piano must be the Humoresque in G flat major, the seventh of a set of eight. As with many other arrangements of this piece, the current one for flute and piano brings the key up to G major to make it easier to play. The melodic line remains faithful to the original but the piano part is significantly changes with some reharmonisations and new material.

The flute part is relatively straight forward. The piano part is more challenging requiring some good voice leading in the left hand of the middle section.

The recording on this page is of me playing both parts. I first recorded playing the piano on my Clavinova and then learnt the flute part. I apologies for my flute playing, but I have only been learning for 2 months :S
