Countdown
2000 was remixed in May 2001 as a bit of a joke. At the time I
was studying for my PGCE (teacher training) and part of the course
involved
a skills audit. This audit was supposed to record our strengths
and weaknesses - the weaknesses we had to improve upon. I put down
electronic music
as one of my weaknesses and was informed that I would have
to generate something over the course of the year that demonstrated
an
improvement. My colleagues knew what I was like and bet that I
would end up doing some humorous dance remix - Countdown 2000 was born!
The
piece has served me very well over the years as I have used it regularly
to teach GCSE Club Dance Remix. Below you can download the
graphic score in two versions. Both these scores were created for
teaching purposes to introduce the techniques behind remixes. The full
score is
the teacher's version and the pupils score contains gaps
to be filled in whilst listening to the piece as well as other questions.

The
piece was created using samples from Dance eJay and also
samples that I created and recorded myself.
Enjoy!
